Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise is used in the treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal and/or neurologic systems as well as in patients who need conditioning and/or weight loss. Each session includes various types of exercise, which includes ‘passive’ and ‘assisted’ exercise with use of appropriate rehabilitation equipment such as physio and peanut balls, pods, calvetti, cones and proprioceptive aids. Tailored to your pet’s specific diagnosis and needs, it can improve proprioception, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination and can slow progression of disease, leading to an enhancement in mobility and better quality of life for your pet. Therapeutic exercises will also be taught to an owner during a physiotherapy session in order for the owner to provide the benefits of therapeutic exercise at home.
