Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation

Pets referred for physiotherapy will undergo a full evaluation on their first appointment. This includes review of the history/problem/surgery from the referring veterinarian, individual examination, where we look at range of motion, body measurements, gait analysis, neurologic and orthopaedic assessment, pain score, and a review of any behaviour concerns.

From this the owner will receive a detailed plan, which will include thereauputic exercises to be continued at home with easy to follow supporting literature. During this first and subsequent consultations your pet may also receive treatment from modalities such as laser,

therapeutic ultrasound and electrical stimulation and/or hydrotherapy.

Initial Consultation - please allow up to 1hour 30mins

Sessions thereafter - up to 40 mins

Hydrotherapy

Pets referred or attending for hydrotherapy will undergo a health check on their first appointment, which also includes review of the consent form and for those referred by their veterinarian history/problem/surgery and include their first swim session.

Initial Consultation – please allow up to 45mins

Weight Loss Clinic

Obese animals usually show signs of concurrent disease: lameness, increased drinking and urinating, increased respiratory effort or panting, sleeping more, poor skin and coat, and heart stress with circulatory malfunction. Hydrotherapy allows for less weight and body mass on

the legs, more flexion of the joints, buoyancy, better body balance, and an almost massage- like effect on limbs which may ache from carrying excess weight!

Pets referred for weight loss will undergo a full evaluation on their first appointment. This includes review of their history from the referring veterinarian, eating, current exercise and lifestyle habits and they will be given a full examination, where we record their weight and body measurements. From this you the owner will receive a detailed plan, which will include exercises to be continued at home with easy to follow supporting literature, and advice guidance on how to safely achieve those weight loss goals. During this first initial consultation your pet may be given exercise via the canine treadmill or the hydrotherapy pool. At each session thereafter your pet will be weighed, measured and their exercise protocol reviewed and include a hydrotherapy or treadmill session
